Slurm

Slurm is a resource management system that replaces our old resource manager 'Sun Grid Engine'. If you can formulate your computational task into several smaller tasks, Slurm can be used to automatically divide these tasks over all ponies, so that you can use multiple CPUs on multiple ponies at once, without much effort. Ponyland specific info:

  • Our Slurm master is Fluttershy (Thunderlane until May 2020).
  • Our memory limit per job is 8GB (you can request more memory with the --mem flag or the --mem-per-cpu flag, see http://wiki.science.ru.nl/cncz/Slurm#Memory ) .
