Samba Shares

Several folders on ponyland are accessible from within the RU-network as Network Shares, using Samba. The following shares are available:

bigdata /vol/bigdata
bigdata2 /vol/bigdata2
tensusers /vol/tensusers
tensusers2 /vol/tensusers2
homes ~
See disks

Connect using Windows

  1. Open a Windows Explorer window.
  2. Left click on Computer and then on Map network drive. Click here to see where you should click.
  3. In the address bar, type \\\NETWORKSHARE, press <kbd>Enter</kbd>. Note that Windows uses backslashes instead of slashes (so, for instance, connect to \\\tensusers\YOURFOLDER).
  4. Log in using your Ponyland username and password.

Note: on Windows 7, you might want to click something similar to 'Use other credentials' or 'Ue another username' for step 2, otherwise it will automatically try to log in with your university-wide u-number (and fail to do so).

Connect using Mac

  • Open a Finder window
  • From the top menu, click Go, then choose connect to Server (<kbd></kbd><kbd>K</kbd>)
  • In server address, type: smb:// and connect
  • Log in using your username and password
